Two days, two very different outfits, one proud lady.
Wednesday night was wonderful. I was able to join my husband and some of Baltimore’s finest professionals to honor him as one of the The Daily Record’s Top 40 Under 40 VIP (Very Important Professionals).
I joined his colleagues and several friends to celebrate his accomplishment. Polkadots, a pop of red, and a vintage box clutch seemed like the perfect ensemble.
Thursday afternoon, came with a very different event and a very pastel pairing. For my son’s “Find your Seat, Meet and Greet,” we headed to his new school to meet his Kindergarten teacher. She was very sweet, and although he seemed a bit anxious, he was excited to find his locker and his seat. The afternoon was fun, complete with PTA ice cream sundaes in his new cafeteria.
I was comfortable in my pastel combination. I paired my Free People tank with cropped pants, Kenneth Cole d’Orsay flats, and my Frye “Jenna” cross-body.
We played it cool and were all smiles at the end of the day. I can’t believe that my big guy is starting elementary school in less than a week!
Two proud moments in polkadots and pastels. Different outfits, definitely blessed.
Yesterday was our first day back in Baltimore and of course we were pool bound. It is also our last full week of summer (so sad). The kids were anxious to hit the big pool until they stuck their toes in and began to shiver. This was just NOT going to do after our “bath water” big pool time in Birmingham, so everyone settled for the “baby pool.” I love the baby pool—the kids play, they can all touch, and I can actually sit in a chair and chat with my friends or my girl.
Unfortunately, my friends were not poolside yesterday (probably because the water was too cold) so after a chat with my girl, I hopped on my phone and hit the Polyvore App (http://www.polyvore.com/) to get inspired and do a little styling. I love playing around on this app, mixing and matching tops that I can afford with jeans that would break my bank.
Yesterday, however, I was ALL about the dresses. Actually, I was all about one dress in particular, this Free People Crossing Paths Maxi.
I tried on this fun boho-chic dress at Macy’s during a little mama and me shopping spree on Saturday. I LOVED it but it was a little out of my buy it, wear it, blog it, sell it budget, so I passed on it. Occasionally, however, I get a little dress obsessed. This was obviously one of those occasions where I found myself Polyvore surfing for this dress, poolside, and where I can get it for less.
My fingers are crossed that I’ve found a better deal because I think it will be perfect for next week’s “A Haute Summer Night” Fashion Show benefiting Living Classrooms.
Stay tuned to see if this fun frock is the pick of the night or if some other darling dress will steal my heart before next week.
